The November 28th issue of the Blue Ridge Business Journal has an article by Jeff Crooke entitled Incubating ideas at Virginia Tech’s CRC. Inside is a quote from yours truly:
The VT KnowledgeWorks program is a much bigger idea than the building’s footprint, however. While eight companies are currently housed in the building, another 10 are enrolled in the program, which gives its members access to accounting, public relations, printing, insurance and financial services. That’s in addition to reduced rent, secure servers, management expertise and legal assistance.
That’s a slate of services not ordinarily enjoyed by start-ups, particularly those in more crowded markets. Tom Markiewicz is the owner of EvolvePoint, which “offers products and services for the creation, management and search of Internet news feeds based on RSS (Really Simply Syndication) feeds.” “There’s not this kind of support structure for small technology companies in D.C.,” he says, explaining his decision to join KnowledgeWorks. “This allows us to focus on our core business.”
There was quite a lead time with this article, as the dedication ceremony occurred back in September.
